Secure e-commerce

If you receive orders per Internet and would like to accept Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club and Discover for the payment thereof, then you need a special Secure e-commerce contract with SIX Multipay as well as a contract with a Payment Service Provider (PSP).

Commerce over the Internet has grown steadily in recent years. Now you can offer your customers the option of conveniently paying with their credit and debit card from their own PC. With MasterCard SecureCode and Verified by Visa you have implemented the security standards of both the world’s two leading credit card companies.

Secure e-commerce COMPLETE
If you handle only a few hundred transactions over the Internet annually, then we will have an attractive all-in-one solution for you. With Secure e-commerce COMPLETE you only need a single contract for credit and debit card acceptance along with the services of a Payment Service Provider.

Identification with a personal password
The key to Secure e-commerce is the personal password, with which the cardholder unambiguously identifies himself at his card-issuing bank when making an online purchase. The password corresponds to the signature on the card sales slip in the presence business. This effectively prevents card misuse and significantly reduces the risk of fraud. Both you and your customers profit.

It makes no different for you whether the cardholder is already registered for MasterCard SecureCode or Verified by Visa (Secure e-commerce) or not. You profit from enhanced protection against fraudulently disputed transactions by the cardholder even if he/she is not yet registered, except for exceptional cases, such as with the so-called commercial cards from Visa, MasterCard, JCB, Diners Club and Discover, that were not issued in Europe or for Visa payments made with mobile telephones. Since the list of such exceptions changes occasionally, our customer service department can answer your questions regarding the current situation.

You can also accept payments with Maestro cards with a Secure E-Commerce contract
With a Secure e-commerce contract payments with Maestro cards can also be accepted. For the time being, only foreign cards are permitted for payment on the Internet by the card-issuing banks. Paying with Swiss Maestro cards is not yet permitted since the Swiss banks do not yet allow this. Generally required is that the card is registered for the procedure with MasterCard SecureCode. Required for the acceptance of Maestro card payments is a corresponding, contractual agreement with SIX Multipay Ltd.

Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) for customers issued for currencies that differ from those offered on the online shop.
If you have signed a corresponding contractual agreement with SIX Multipay Ltd., then you can offer a cardholder, whose card currency differs from that of your online shop, the option of paying in his/her card currency. This function is called DCC (Dynamic Currency Conversion). The payment procedure in the virtual terminal of the Payment Service Provider is required to meet the rules of the card organizations, since the cardholder must make his/her decision as to how to pay during the payment procedure. DCC generally provides the cardholder with a more preferable conversion rate and lower costs for the online shop for the card acceptance.

SDP/AIS security rules
To protect card data from unauthorized access and misuse, the security rules, SDP and AIS from Visa, MasterCard, JCB, Diners Club and Discover, which are based on the common PCI standard (Payment Card Industry) apply to all merchants who process, store or transmit card data. If a merchant assigns the storage, processing or transmission of card data to third parties, such as a Payment Service Provider or Web shop host, then he/she is responsible for ensuring that they also comply with the PCI security rules and are certified for SDP/AIS.

You can find further information about SDP and AIS security programs and the PCI standard in the security rules for the handling of credit and debit card data.
